Sileni Chardonnay

From Hawkes Bay, the oldest wine growing region in New Zealand. The vineyard works hard on sustainability and energy reduction. Production has doubled since 2012, with energy consumption below their 2002 levels. All solid waste from the winemaking is composted and returned to the vineyard to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds.

Grown on a variety of soil types including gravels, silt and loam which provide depth and complexity of flavour. A small portion of the blend is aged in French oak barriques and 40% undergoes malolactic fermentation to introduce some creaminess and complexity.

The Cellar Selection Chardonnay has citrus and nectarine flavours backed up with some oak texture and lees stirred complexity. It is made in an early drinking style, but will comfortably cellar for the next 2-3 years.

Pairs well with seafood, chicken, salads... a very versatile wine.
